Services

Do you want to contribute to the development of students and the strengthening of the Dutch high-tech sector? Do you have strategic and tactical insight, a passion for communication and a strong affinity with technology?  Then this is the job for you.

Job Description

Within the national Beethoven project, we are looking for four advisors who are committed to the transfer of bachelor's students to master's programs within the four growth faculties of TU/e:

  • Applied Physics and Science Education
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mathematics and Computer Science
  • Mechanical Engineering

You will be part of the Educational Marketing team within the TU/e communications department and work closely with colleagues within the departments, the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) department, communication and education professionals. You work in the faculty and build your network and contact with the students.

Your role

You are the connecting link between student, faculty and university. You translate the ambitions of project Beethoven into a clear story that appeals to students and supports them in their selection process from bachelor to master. You develop communication plans, organize information activities and contribute to community building within the university and the Brainport region. This starts when bachelor's students start the program.

There are two backgrounds from which you can fill this position:

  • You have a communication background with a strong technical affinity
  • You have a technical background with knowledge and experience in (science) communication

The tasks are the same, but the emphasis on the interpretation can be placed differently in consultation with the other communication colleagues within the faculty.

What will you do?

  • You will develop department-specific communication strategies and tactics aimed at progressing from TU/e bachelor's to TU/e master's programs, together with colleagues within your own department.
  • Identifying bottlenecks in the educational program in consultation with ESA and program directors.
  • Positioning master's programs and developing appealing transfer stories.
  • Organizing information activities such as master's information days and student for a day days.
  • Managing student assistants and coordinating communication actions.
  • Producing and managing content (social, print, video, web) on the education guide and the digital learning environment (Canvas).
  • You will also update the data in the transfer matrix, a tool to give students good insight into the accessibility of TU/e master's programs after their bachelor's degree.
  • Monitoring and reporting retention data and effectiveness of communication and activities based on a student journey analysis, among other things.
  • Contributing to community building and embedding (international) students in the region from the start of the bachelor's program, for example in the form of substantive discussions with these students.
  • Organizing company visits and guest speakers from the Brainport region.

Job Requirements

  • A college or university education in communication, marketing or a technical direction.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a broad marcom role, preferably in higher education.
  • Affinity/experience with STEM education and/or technical content.
  • Strategic/tactical thinking skills and hands-on mentality.
  • Creativity, independence and connecting ability.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.

Terms of Employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:

  • A one-year contract with the prospect of an extension to a total of up to 48 months within the Beethoven project.
  • Salary between €3,537 and €5,331 (scale 9-10, Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • A favorable arrangement for more holidays or a sabbatical.
  • A selection model for additional fringe benefits.
  • Working hours in consultation for an optimal work-life balance.
  • Scope for your talent with advancement prospects and excellent development opportunities such as mentoring, workshops and coaching.
  • Partially paid parental leave and reimbursement for commuting expenses, working from home and the internet.
  • A generous employer contribution to the favorable ABP pension plan.
