Services

Do you want to contribute to student development and strengthen the Dutch high-tech sector? Are you driven to showcase the educational offerings of an ambitious university that develops innovative solutions for major societal challenges? Do you know how to engage and attract students from the Netherlands and abroad? If so, you might be the person we are looking for!

As part of the national Beethoven project, we are seeking four Marketing and Communications Specialists to help increase enrollment in master’s programs within the following TU/e departments:

  • Applied Physics and Science Education
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mathematics and Computer Science
  • Mechanical Engineering.

Job Description

You will join the Education Marketing team within TU/e’s communications center. From there, you will be seconded to one of the four departments, working close to students and colleagues involved in teaching and research. You will serve as a bridge between prospective students, the department, and the university.

In this role, you will combine strategic thinking with tactical implementation and operational execution. Together with a direct colleague, you will work on the departmental recruitment strategy and translate it into successful projects and initiatives.

You will be a key sparring partner for the department’s Education Management Team, including program directors and the manager of Education and Student Affairs. Together with your colleagues, you will direct all departmental education marketing and communication activities. You will ensure that our message reaches prospective students clearly and convincingly, and lead a team of student assistants who organize outreach and events.

You will develop and maintain a coherent narrative that supports the department’s growth ambitions and aligns with the interests of your target audiences. You will continuously monitor the effectiveness of your approach and its impact on enrollment. While you and your direct colleague are responsible for student recruitment, another colleague focuses on bachelor-to-master student retention. Additionally, you will work closely with colleagues from other departments within the Beethoven project to initiate and enhance joint initiatives.

You are a proactive, entrepreneurial, and connecting marketing and communications specialist. With broad expertise and a hands-on mindset, you combine strategic thinking with practical execution, without losing sight of the bigger picture. This position offers considerable autonomy, and you are confident taking initiative while knowing when to consult others.

What will you do?

  • Develop and help implement the department’s positioning and communication plan, in coordination with the central education marketing team.
  • Organize recruitment events, including Master’s Open Days, online open days, and experience days.
  • Lead or participate in projects that improve program positioning and the student journey.
  • Identify and address communication needs within the department, tailored to different educational audiences.
  • Write and edit (web) content; produce videos, photos, and other marketing materials targeted to the audience.
  • Ensure that the results of your activities are measurable and track enrollment and student retention continuously.
  • Monitor market developments and recruitment activities at competing institutions.
  • Help ensure accurate representation of educational information on external websites such as Studiekeuze123.

Job Requirements

  • A college or university education in communication, marketing or a technical direction.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a broad marcom role, preferably in higher education.
  • Affinity/experience with STEM education and/or technical content.
  • Strategic/tactical thinking skills and hands-on mentality.
  • Creativity, independence and connecting ability.
  • Excellent writing skills in English.

Terms of Employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:

  • A one-year contract with the prospect of an extension to a total of up to 48 months within the Beethoven project.
  • Salary between €3,537 and €5,331 (scale 9-10, Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • A favorable arrangement for more holidays or a sabbatical.
  • A selection model for additional fringe benefits.
  • Working hours in consultation for an optimal work-life balance.
  • Scope for your talent with advancement prospects and excellent development opportunities such as mentoring, workshops and coaching.
