Are you a hands-on HR professional who thrives in a dynamic academic environment? We are looking for a proactive and service-oriented HR Advisor to strengthen the HR team of the faculty of Biomedical Engineering.

You enjoy taking up a variety of HR tasks, keeping an overview with the help of HR data and aligning your work with the needs of the faculties. You’ll work closely with faculty leadership and HR Services to ensure seamless HR operations and contribute to a positive work culture. Job Description

In this all-round position, you deal with all aspects of the HR field. About you:

  • You thrive on finding ways to support managers with their people management tasks, whose main focus is on research and education and not on management.
  • You understand HR is a balance act between the advisory role and an operational role when you ensure the processes are correctly set up. You acknowledge the importance of performing your administrative tasks correctly and on time. TU/e works with AFAS Insite.
  • You can build a relationship with our (academic) managers where you develop from HR advisor to trusted HR partner. You support the manager in keeping an overview, supported by HR data and understanding the business needs. Your unsolicited advice is heard and taken seriously.
  • You really want to know the faculty you work for, inside and out. This knowledge enables you to advise colleagues of HRM policy or development on trends or recurring issues surpassing an individual faculty.
  • You balance the business approach with a warm understanding of people. Enabling you to coach management and employees in a respectful way, contributing to a smoothly running team or de-escalating complex cases.
  • You can keep your focus, decide what to prioritize and what not, keep an overview of what needs to be done, why, when and how.
  • And you are a colleague that contributes to the success of our team. By sharing ideas and contributing to university-wide projects.

About your colleagues
The HRM service department consists of approximately 130 enthusiastic colleagues. You are part of a team of 25 HR Advisors and regularly meet and exchange ideas and best practices. You also work closely with the HRM colleagues of services, recruitment, policy, development and other experts. You are seconded to the faculty where you work closely with your colleague HR advisor and colleagues of HR Services.

You are also part of an international, diverse and collaborative community and work closely with top-tier scientists and innovators within the faculty.

The faculty of Biomedical Engineering offers top-level education and research in one of the most relevant and exciting scientific disciplines of the 21st century: engineering health. In combining engineering and life sciences, through challenge-based learning and a multidisciplinary approach in collaboration with hospitals, industry and others, the department addresses the great challenges of the future, striving to improve healthcare and society as a whole. The HR topics within this department are optimizing processes, increasing efficiency in the way of working and in collaboration with other supporting staff, succession planning and strengthening leadership.

Job Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HRM or in a relevant field.
  • You have 3-5 years of HR work experience at advising level within a complex (and preferably similar) organization.
  • You have an excellent oral and written command of both the Dutch and English languages.
  • You have strong communication skills, are able to adapt quickly and get to the heart of the matter easily.
  • You can maintain overview and your style of working is people- and process-oriented.
  • You have a high degree of independence and flexibility. In doing so, you show persuasiveness and connect with people.
  • You have a positive attitude, are used think in terms of opportunities and are result-oriented.
  • You can make a contribution to continuous improvement of HRM and the HR advisory role within it.
  • You want to be part of- and contribute to the HRM-team and the faculty-team.

Conditions of employment

An exciting position within an international yet personal university. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:

  • A contract for 32 hours a week.
  • An environment where you are encouraged to develop yourself in the field of HR.
  • A monthly salary of minimum € 3.546,- to maximum € 5.538,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 10 collective labour agreementfor Dutch Universities).
  • In addition to vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
