About the Role

TU/e is committed to academic freedom, societal responsibility, and international collaboration. In this context, the Committee on Sensitive Collaborations plays a crucial advisory role to the Executive Board, assessing partnerships that may involve ethical, political, or societal sensitivities.

As Secretary to the Committee on Sensitive Collaborations, you are the linking pin of the committee’s operations. You ensure that its work is well-prepared, coordinated, and documented, and you serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. You have a proactive role in identifying relevant (inter)national developments. You contribute to policy development and help shape the university’s approach to responsible collaboration.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating the committee's activities, including drawing up the agenda, preparing meetings and taking minutes
  • Ensuring that sensitive matters are handled with care and confidentiality
  • Assisting in the preparation of advisory reports and policy documents by independently devising and drafting notes relating to policy and decision-making.
  • Representing (in terms of content and process) in consultation situations and acting as a contact person for TU/e employees with internal and external partners with regard to sensitive cooperation issues.
  • Following national and international developments in the field of geopolitics, ethics and academic partnerships
  • Contribute to the refinement of the assessment framework and internal guidelines of TU/e.
  • Collaborate with legal, policy and administrative departments within the university.
  • Assess proposed positions and decisions against decision-making frameworks, procedures and legal provisions.

Your Profile

  • Academic working and thinking level.
  • Experience with policy and governance processes in complex organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
  • Affinity with ethical and societal issues in higher education and research.
  • Discrete, analytically strong, and diplomatically skilled; has an open attitude and is able to (facilitate the) weighing of interests of various stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting committees or working groups is a plus.
