Job Description

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a leading research university specializing in engineering science and technology with a strong connection to industry. We are currently seeking a Policy Officer Education to join our dynamic team at the Department of the Built Environment. As a Policy Officer, you will be part of the Education and Student Affairs (ESA) team, providing a wide range of services to support education, such as advising students, supporting teachers, quality assurance, and educational policy.

As a Policy Officer Education you will play an important role in the shaping and execution of the departmental educational programs. You will oversee the strategy, policy, regulations, and execution of education, ensuring they are aligned and balanced. Working closely with key stakeholders such as program directors, manager ESA, program coordinator, quality assurance, teacher support, Examination and Program Committees, teachers, and students, you will have the opportunity to take on various roles such as analyst, advisor, expert, and project leader on a wide range of education related topics. Your well-developed analytical and conceptual skills enable you to develop policy proposals within given frameworks. You involve relevant stakeholders in decision making processes and your excellent (Dutch and English) communication and organizational skills will be essential in creating support for successful implementation of educational policies and improvement projects.

As a departmental Policy Officer you will also play a role in TU/e-wide education policy projects and be an active member of the policy chain.

Some specific examples of your core activities are:

  • Updating the Program and Examination Regulations (PER) annually for the relevant programs, including defining program structures and student rights and responsibilities;
  • Preparing annual educational evaluation reports;
  • Managing the accreditation processes of programs, in line with NVAO standards;
  • Managing educational innovation projects, such as the redesign of the Master’s programs, ensuring project success from initiation to implementation, involving stakeholders from different levels in the organization;
  • Translating central regulations related to assessment and quality assurance into departmental policy.

Job Requirements

  • You have/hold at least a MSc degree in a field relevant to this position
  • You have a background in or demonstrable affinity with educational management and education change processes
  • You have work experience in an academic environment; 
  • You have an affinity with the department of the Built Environment and the student population;
  • You have knowledge of and experience in policy making;
  • You have highly developed analytical and conceptual skills
  • You are able to keep an overview of multiple dossiers at the same time and you can organize and plan your work well and independently;
  • You are result-oriented, enterprising, persuasive, service-oriented and enjoy working in a team.
  • You have an eye for organizational relationships and differences in interests.
  • You are proficient in English (minimum C1 level) and Dutch (minimum C1), and have strong communicative skills

  • A monthly salary of minimum €4,728 to maximum €6,433 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 11 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
