Job Description

In this all-round position, you deal with all aspects of the HR field. About you:

  • You thrive on finding ways to support managers with their people management tasks, whose main focus is on research and education and not on management.
  • You enjoy building a relationship with our (academic) managers where you develop from HR advisor to trusted HR (business) partner. You support the manager, where possible supported by HR data, in keeping an overview and understanding the business needs. Your unsolicited advice is heard and taken seriously.

  • You really want to know the department you work for, inside and out. This knowledge enables you to advise colleagues of HRM policy or development on trends or recurring issues surpassing an individual department.
  • You balance the business approach with a warm understanding of people. Enabling you to coach management and employees in a respectful way, contributing to a smoothly running team or de-escalating complex cases.
  • You can keep your focus, decide what to prioritize and what not, keep an overview of what needs to be done, why, when and how.
  • You are a colleague that contributes to the success of our HR team. By sharing ideas and contributing to university-wide projects.
  • You have a positive mindset and like to contribute to a good atmosphere.

You are seconded to the department where you work closely with your colleague HR advisor and colleagues of HR Services.

You are also part of an international, diverse and collaborative community and work closely with top-tier scientists and innovators within the department.

The Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (CE&C) department delivers high-quality education and research in chemical engineering and chemistry, aiming to tackle complex societal challenges and advance fundamental science and technological innovation.

Currently, the department is undergoing a transformation. In close collaboration with staff, a new vision has been developed to guide our future:

  • Our higher purpose: Chemistry for a better world
  • Our core values: Passion, compassion & excellence
  • Our bold ambition: To be ranked number 1 in education, research, and societal impact by 2040
