Are you passionate about integrated circuits and mixed-signal design? Do you want to design new devices, explore advanced integration technologies, and contribute to the development of innovative computing architectures? Are you excited to gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art optical computing that enables fast and energy-efficient AI? And would you like to learn directly from leading scientists in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, and Denmark? Are you our next EngD trainee in Integrated Circuits and analog design?
This exceptional opportunity presents a chance for us to develop together the next generation ADCs that interface high-speed photo detectors with the digital world. We participate in the EU project DOLORES, https://doloresproject.eu, and we directly contribute to its work-package 1 (WP1), Task 1.5 that aims at developing a new co-optimized IC for efficient ADC and data storage. For this task, we need to design a state-of-the-art ADC that can efficiently convert the light signals from a photonic processor into digital bits. You can play an active role in this development through an EngD project.
In this role, you will fuse your passion for analog and mixed-signal IC design with the latest advancements in data converters, pipeline and SAR ADC, as well as analog IC design. The fruits of your labor could potentially pave the way for breakthroughs in other applications that demand high-speed analog-to-digital conversion, such as wireless communication, UWB ranging and automotive radar.
At the end of your EngD study, you will have a test chip, which will have been designed in cooperation with world experts in the field and will have been measured in advanced electronics labs! Depending on the achieved results, there can be opportunities for publications in world-level scientific journals.
