Research Support and Valorization consists of the Research Support Office (RSO) and startup helpdesk The Gate. RSO supports and unburdens researchers with obtaining external funding for their research and developing project proposals. At The Gate, business developers and IP-experts offer support in translating research results into successful innovations and new companies.
Semiconductors are a key driver of technological innovations and form the backbone of modern society, with applications spanning communications, computing, sensing, space, healthcare, agriculture, and beyond. This sector is evolving rapidly, with new tools, design environments, and workflows being constantly developed. While the vibrant ecosystem opens opportunities, the challenge is the high knowledge barrier rising from fragmented information, private ecosystems, and the increasing technological complexity.
This Education and Research Technician role will approach the challenge in the knowledge transfer aspect. The role involves identifying the diverse needs from academia and industry, from different levels of education and knowledge backgrounds, extracting complex concepts into effective training programs, and ensuring continuous alignment with stakeholder interests. Through high-level gap analysis, designing innovative solutions, implementing and monitoring dedicated training programs, this role will ultimately make technology more understandable and accessible.
The role is shared equally between two projects (PHORTIFY and DECIDE), with a focus on training and content development. Key responsibilities include contributing to the design and delivery of a cleanroom training module in collaboration with a VR content developer. This involves providing input on learning objectives, training methods, and activities, as well as giving feedback on the VR-based training environments. DECIDE is a European project targeted at integrating chip design resources within the EU to offer a single-stop shop (EU chip design platform) to designers, facilitating fast prototyping or upscaling. Working synergistically with PHORTIFY, the key tasks include landscaping and development of new training that will be hosted on the cloud platform. This can start with a survey to analyze user needs, based on which application or tool-specific learning objectives will be defined for new trainings. Alignment with other initiatives like PIXEurope and Chip Competence Centers will be maintained to ensure benefits to the entire ecosystem.
This position will be in the Photonic Integration group, leveraging our years of expertise in nanofabrication, chip design, and training delivery through JePPIX (Joint European Platform for Integrated Photonics). You will have access to one of the world’s best cleanroom facilities for III-V semiconductors and photonics at TU Eindhoven. You will develop new perspectives and training methods, strengthen management and communication skills, and engage with international key players in the field, including IMEC, CEA, and others.
