Departments, Department of Electrical Engineering

Introduction

The Electronic Systems (ES) group within the Department of Electrical Engineering of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and Philips Image Guided Therapy Systems (Philips IGT-S) are seeking to hire an outstanding EngD candidate within the field of data driven value-based healthcare in image guided therapy.

Job Description

In image guided therapy the real-time x-ray image stream is essential in conducting the intervention. As a consequence, so far the industry has been reluctant to embrace cloud technology, because of latency and reliability considerations. However, cloud cluster computing also enables sophisticated AI algorithms that cannot be catered by local computation resources.

This EngD project will consist of creating cloud technologies for real-time interventional imaging. This position is part of six EngD vacancies at Philips IGT-S which will be released over the next year. The EngD candidates will work within an expert team at Philips, and their assignments will address the following aspects:

  • Deployment of a containerized backend infrastructure with a European cloud provider
  • Large databases deployment using K8S, MongoDB and S3 technologies
  • Setup monitoring for key performance indicators such as latency, quality of service, up-time, usage, etc

Electronic Systems group at TU/e and Philips IGT-S

The Electronic Systems group consists of six full professors, three associate professors, five assistant professors, several postdocs, about 40 EngD and PhD candidates and support staff. The ES group is world-renowned for its design automation and embedded systems research. It is our ambition to provide a scientific basis for design trajectories of electronic systems, ranging from digital circuits to cyber-physical systems. The trajectories are constructive and lead to high quality, cost-effective systems with predictable properties (functionality, timing, reliability, power dissipation, and cost).

Philips Image Guided Therapy is a business category within Royal Philips. The Image Guided Therapy department focuses on developing innovative medical devices and solutions that enable minimally invasive and image-guided procedures in the field of healthcare. These technologies are designed to help healthcare professionals perform procedures such as interventional cardiology, radiology, and surgery with greater precision and efficiency. Philips Image Guided Therapy solutions often incorporate advanced imaging, data analytics, and visualization technologies to enhance patient care and improve clinical outcomes. https://www.philips.com/healthcare/e/image-guided-therapy
