Job Description

What will a day look like as a HR Advisor at TU/e:
You start the day with meeting a manager, together you discuss developments within the team who is progressing and who needs extra support? Then you join a meeting about team dynamics and contribute ideas on how to improve collaboration. Later that day you have a discussion with the internal recruiter how you can refine the recruitment strategy to attract talent that fits in the organizational long term vision. Afterwords, you participate in a specific HR project, e.g. improving onboarding processes for new employees. Back at your desk, you draft a complex employment proposal together with colleagues from HR-Services. While updating your inbox, you read a thank you message from an employee you guided (at the procedural level) during their reintegration process and you receive an invitation to participate in a project on process optimization, in which you will contribute ideas on how HR processes can be made smarter and more futureproof. As you can see, your day will be filled with diverse tasks each contributing to and shaped by the strategic people agenda, where you as a HR Advisor have influence on.

What will you be doing?
More in detail as an HR Advisor partner in this dynamic position, you’ll engage all facets of HR, you play a role in aligning HR strategies with overall business objectives of the Service department which you support. You will support a business a Service department on the following focus topics:

  • Advise and support the management teams of the Service Departments on more tactical and strategic HR policy and organizational topics (e.g. performance management, organizational development, strategic workforce planning, absenteeism, recruitment, etc.);
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are effectively communicated and provide guidance on labor laws, compliance and regulations;
  • Advise and support managers and staff on an operational/ tactical level with regards to (individual) employee and HR related topics;
  • Contribute (e.g. by participating in HR related projects) to the development of the HRM university wide policy and ensure adequate implementation within the Service department you work in;
  • Utilize HR analytics to monitor key metrics, identify trends, and provide insights to support decision making and improve HR processes;
  • Support organizational change initiatives by advising management in new structures, processes and cultures;
  • Build strong partnerships with your stakeholders, fostering collaboration and trust.

Job Requirements

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • You have multiple years of HR work experience at advising level within a complex (and preferably similar) organization;
  • You have an excellent oral and written command of the Dutch and English languages;
  • You have an excellent track record in leading (behavioral) organizational change management and improvement tracks;
  • You are able to maintain overview, and your workstyle is people-, process- and project-oriented. You have a high degree of independence and flexibility as an HR professional. In doing so, you show persuasiveness and connect with people. You are result-oriented and make a professional contribution to the development of HRM and the HR advisory role within it.

Conditions of employment

  • An environment where you are encouraged to develop yourself in the field of HR.
  • Depending on knowledge and experience, the salary will amount to a minimum of €3.546,- and a maximum of €5.538- (salary scale 10) gross per month under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
  • Initially, this will be a temporary contract for a period of one year, with the prospect of permanent employment (depending on economic and organizational circumstances) immediately thereafter.

About the HRM Department
The HRM department consists of approximately 130 colleagues and is composed of the HR Operations, HR Business and HR Development section. In this position, you will be part of the Business section. You are part of a team of 25 HR Advisors and also work closely with the HRM colleagues of HR Services, recruitment, policy, development and other colleagues.

About the Service department
Your daily activities will take place within the team that provides HR advice to the service departments, in this team you will work closely with 6 other HR advisors and 5 HR-Services colleagues on a daily basis. You will report to the Clusterlead who is responsible for the team of HR Advisors for the Service Departments.
