As Technician you will be a vital contributor to the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry, responsible for maintaining a safe and well-organized laboratory environment, operating and calibrating advanced instrumentation, and supporting high-precision data collection and analysis. By ensuring both labs safety and data integrity, you will play a key role in enabling high quality education and high-impact research. Job Description

As a Technician you will perform the following tasks:

  • Operate and/or maintain instruments relevant to our education and research in the Physical chemistry domain, i.e., be familiar with: Analytical tools (HPLC, GPC, GC, titration systems), Spectroscopic tools (UV-Vis, FTIR, DLS/ALV); Thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, Rheometer); Surface and structural characterization materials (SEM, Goniometer, Tensiometer, Viscometer) and simpler routine laboratory set-ups ( such as precision balances, rotavaps ,vacuum pumps, etc).
  • Prepare samples and carry out routine and advanced analyses of chemical and physical properties of materials - solids, liquids, gases, thin films.
  • Maintain lab documentation, instruments calibration records, handle procurement of laboratory supplies and chemicals and ensure compliance with our safety protocols (Lab Safety Officer role - LSO) and institutional guidelines.
  • Contribute to method development and troubleshooting as needed to support ongoing research and education, while assisting faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students with experimental design, techniques training, and data interpretation.
  • Contribute to a culture of safety, compliance and continuous improvement in our laboratory environments.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or (preferentially) Master’s degree in Chemistry, preferentially Analytical Chemistry or Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with both analytical chemistry techniques and materials characterization tools.
  • Prior experience in an academic or research-oriented laboratories is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and keen on accurate practices, ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including data reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team- and multicultural- based environment.
  • Experience with training students or users on lab instrumentation is a plus.
  • Familiarity with research data management practices and software.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols (e.g., chemical hygiene plans, waste management).
