Enjoy working with advanced vacuum, magnetic thin-film systems? Want to help develop new methods for next-generation magnet-based electronics? Join us as Research Laboratory Technician and grow your skills in a dynamic, high-tech academic environment.
The research group Physics of Nanostructures (FNA) works on cutting-edge research with magnetic thin-film systems that are structured on the nanometer scale. We study the basic properties of these materials for future applications in micro-electronics, sensing, photonics, and healthcare.
Our group specializes in a new type of electronics that uses magnetic effects, called spintronics. For this work, we operate a world-class facility with several connected ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) systems used to deposit and analyze extremely thin films. We also use different setups for magnetic, optical, and electrical measurements, some of which involve cryogenic (very low-temperature) techniques.
Training students and young researchers in this high-tech environment is one of our main priorities.
The research laboratory technician works in a dynamic environment, manages their own schedule, and is responsible for their own workspace in a varied and hands-on role. The technician is a key contact person for students, young researchers, and scientific staff, helping them solve technical problems and facilitate new experiments.
Together with an experienced technician, they take care of the maintenance and optimal performance of the experimental setups within the research group. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and motivated to gain sufficient knowledge of both, mechanical, UHV and cryogenic techniques to work independently with complex equipment. An affinity to learn software for automation and system control (e.g., Python, LabView) would be highly valued.
With growing expertise, the technician will also support other research groups within the faculty.
