Job Description

As TU/e Partnership Manager you will be responsible for managing and nurturing TU/e’s relationships with the most important large industrial partners, ensuring client satisfaction, and identifying opportunities for collaboration and growth. This role serves as the primary liaison between the university and its industrial clients, often working across departments to ensure agreements that align with both the institutional and the industrial partner objectives.

Your focus areas will be the business aspects of the large industrial accounts of the TU/e, as well as the large partnerships with other research institutions and universities.

As TU/e Partnership Manager, you will have an operational reporting line to the Semicon institute and will work closely with the departmental management of each of the nine faculties and four institutes. You will have a landing spot in the central TU/e Research Support Office (RSO). The Research Support Office (RSO) is the central Research Support Office of TU/e and consists of a small, close-knit team of professionals who support the scientific staff in applying for European and national grants for research. The RSO team further consists of research funding advisors, grant program experts, corporate lawyers, and project managers.

The key responsibilities of the TU/e Partnership Manager  include:

  • Act as the primary deal maker for a portfolio of major industrial accounts
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key industrial clients as primary liaison
  • Understand the needs, priorities, and R&D strategies of partner companies
  • Negotiate and manage collaboration agreements, ensuring compliance and mutual benefit.
  • Track and report on partnership performance, progress, and outcomes.
  • Achieve a quantitative target in margin improvement and IP-valorisation
  • Organize and participate in regular meetings, progress reviews, and networking events
    with the key industrial partners
  • Address escalations, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Anticipate developments in the landscape of important (industrial) players and the resulting
    desired adjustments to quickly enter into business relationships with new accounts.

Job Requirements

We are looking for excellent candidates that meet the following requirements:

  • Education on academic level, preferably in a technical field
  • Over 10 years of experience in key account management, industry relations, business development in a corporate environment
  • Knowledge of IP management, research contracts, and funding mechanisms
  • Strong understanding of university-industry collaboration dynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experienced in negotiating agreements between industrial partners and academic institutions
  • Experience in or strong affinity with academic technical research and valorisation
  • Excellent networking and connecting skills
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English
  • Well-organized, autonomous, flexible, service- and result oriented.

Conditions of employment

  • A monthly salary of minimum € 6.835,- to maximum € 8.673,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 14 collective labour agreementfor Dutch Universities)
  • In addition to 8% vacation pay, a structural end-of-year bonus of 8.3%
